Some History about Quorn.

Quorn is one of Charnwood’s prettiest villages.

A stop on the Great Central Railway, Quorn & Woodhouse Station played an important role during World War Two, and its restoration reflects this era. Passenger trains run regularly and special events include wartime weekends and steam galas.

The heart of any village is its local pub, and visitors here are spoilt for choice. The 18th century Quorndon Fox, which takes the village’s former name, CharniaThe Royal OakThe White Horse , all come with oodles of charm and tons of history. Well-kept ales and fabulous food are also on the menu, and many offer accommodation. Some of the luxury rooms at The Manor House come with private garden, and The Royal Oak has its own cottage.

For hotel stays, book into Quorn Grange, on the edge of the National Forest, or the 17th century Quorn Country Hotel, with river-view gardens.

Shoppers can pick up unique items, from jewellery and gifts at Gifts @ 46,while walkers can follow a sculpture trail. As you go, admire many buildings, including the 12th century St Bartholomew’s Church, beautifully crafted using local slate and stone.
